Bruce Barrette
Anyone that knows Bruce Barrette, knows his passion for pool was a top priority in his life, His wife came first then came his love for pool. I have known Bruce for about 8 years and he was our team captain that lead us to the ACS National Championship last June at the Riviera . Bruce plays on Tuesday and Wednesday nights at the cue club, and is liked by anyone that knows him. Last Thursday Bruce had surgery and suffered a massive stroke . He is in intensive care and needs all our prays. Please take a minute and pray that Bruce gets better. We need him back in our lives.

RELAXING DAY AT THE RIVIERA
I went to the Riviera to watch some friends play in some matches in the APA. I am not an APA member, but I do enjoy watching people I know play. I was having a relaxing day when I ran across Greg Kuhls playing in some mini 's. He was playing in the 8 ball events and man can this guy play. This is why he won the BCA open in 2007. He never missed a shot.
I did some shopping while I was there and some people asked me if there was a pool hall close by that they could go and practice . I mentioned the cue club which is about a mile and a half up the street or pool sharks if they want to drive alittle farther or one of my favorites mickey's which is across town. They wanted a place that has valley tables so I recommended the cue club or pool sharks. I really enjoy spending time every year at the Riv. and hope when the VENA and ACS move their venue next year it will be just as enjoyable.
Alot of vendors were set up this year and there was some great deals on cues, cases, and accessories. My favorite is pool dawgs, they seem to have the best deals and alot of choices.
Amy should post the results of the APA on her website vegasbilliardsbuzz and lets hope Vegas does well.
Talk to you soon. Shoot straight.

CHECK OUT THIS SHOT OF COREY DEUEL!
I think this shot is amazing. I have known Corey for several years, whenever he comes to the Riviera I make every effort to go and watch all his matches. This guy has one of the best strokes I have ever seen. Check out the video and watch the shot from the 4 to the 5. When I asked Corey about this shot he said he practices these type of shots all the time.I know guys like Efren or Earl or whomever have done some amazing shots but Corey is my favorite.

WHAT A GREAT 9 BALL SATURDAY !
What a great Saturday, The vegasbilliardsbuzz had it's 3 man team competition today at the cue club. They had 17 teams that showed up with some top guns from around town. This was a very well run tournament and Amy and Nicole did an excellent job. Although the team I was on took 9th thur 12th I had alot of fun. I'm one of those people that can enjoy just watching some great pool. When you have players like Greg Kuhl, Al Lawrence, Ronnie Allen, Jimmy Moore, just to name a few, you get to watch some excellent 9 ball. I saw some shots today I never thought could be done. Anyway go to vegasbilliardsbuzz to see the results and read up on the next tour which is scotch doubles coming next month. This will be 8 ball and there is a skill limit so find your partner and join the fun.

REMINISCING
I was talking with a friend of mine last week and we started talking about when we use to play at Pinky's. Pinky's was located off FLamigo in Las Vegas Nv.
After our conversation we both agreed that we missed playing there. Pinky's has been closed for years, but the memories still hang on. Those of you that aren't familiar with Pinky's, they were a night club with 35 to 40 pool tables. All the 7 foot tables were covered with a hot pink cloth. I use to wear glasses at that time and the glare from the pink felt would cause me to miss some shots. At least that was my excuse.
Anyway back then I didn't know much about how to play the game. We would go out and bang balls and have a really good time. After several years of bad mechanic's and jumping up on every shot ( they should of nicknamed me grasshopper). I had a chance to watch the pros play at the Riviera and really fell in love with the game.
I wanted to learn more and become a much better player. I started playing serious and learning as much as I could asking alot of questions from better players and teaching myself. Big mistake, If you want to play better and become competitive then I would recommend lessons. All you new players that really want to get better
should get lessons and learn to start with the basics. Don't play around and try to teach yourself. I live in Las Vegas and we have several people that are more than capable of teaching you.If you don't live in Vegas I'm sure someone in
your area is giving lessons. In Vegas we have Walter Glass who I hear gives great lessons, and Greg Kuhls who also gives lesson which are also very good. To get these guy's phone number you can go to www.vegasbilliardsbuzz.com . Believe me I wasted years trying to teach myself, don't make the same mistake.

BILLIARD INFORMATION IN VEGAS!
I wanted to start a blog related to playing pool and be able to talk with other pool players and hear about each others experiences. After checking out other billiard blogs I realized that everyone is advertising or selling something and not talking at all about what a great night they had or how lousy they played on league night.
My name is James Taylor and I live in Las Vegas Nevada. I love what Vegas has to offer as far as pool goes.We have every league imaginable and a lot of tournaments just about every night of the week. If your from Vegas or from out of state and plan to visit Vegas in the future, and want to have a lot of fun then go to www. vegasbilliardsbuzz.com and find out what is going on. Amy and Nicole have a great site and let everyone know what is going on in town. If your from out of town and don't want to gamble everyday then go to www. vegasbilliardsbuzz.com, find a tournament and have a great time.
I am not selling anything nor is the website I asked you to visit, Just get involved and have a great time.
My next blog will have more about myself and some of the interesting people I have meet.Talk to you soon.
